I am originally from Kingston, Ontario, have lived in British Columbia since 1980, and in North Vancouver since 1994.  I graduated from McMaster University in 1976 with a B.A. in studio art and art history, attended graduate studies in studio art at the Instituto Allende in Mexico in 1976 and 1977, and graduated from the University of British Columbia with a B.Ed. in Art Education, Secondary in 1992.

I have always been interested in making images of landscape and the human form, drawing reference from Canadian painters and from European and Asian traditions. I like the forms, patterns and colours in nature, and tend to avoid the built environment. I like painting in oil on canvas or board, and in gouache as it is much more forgiving than transparent watercolor.

I like the feel of the painted image coming to life.
